“Sen Yashaysan”: Supporting Children with Congenital Heart Defects

“Sen Yashaysan”: Supporting Children with Congenital Heart Defects

“Sen Yashaysan” is a charitable program of AKFA MEDLINE dedicated to supporting children with congenital heart defects from families in need of social assistance. The program has been running since 2017. Since its launch, more than 700 surgical procedures have been provided free of charge to children with congenital heart defects at the clinic. Behind every operation is a child’s story, a family’s hope, and the dedicated work of a medical team. More than 700 operations represent hundreds of young hearts that have been given a new opportunity to grow, develop, and live a fuller life.An expert team of pediatric cardiac surgeons plays a central role in the program. The specialists provide consultations, assess each child’s condition, review diagnostic findings, determine whether surgical treatment is indicated, and select the most appropriate treatment strategy for each patient. Additional diagnostic examinations are arranged when necessary. The medical team supports the child throughout all key stages of care — from the initial consultation and preoperative preparation to surgery and subsequent follow-up.As part of the “Sen Yashaysan” program, the clinic provides free consultations every month for children with diagnosed or suspected congenital heart defects. Parents may seek a consultation if their child has already received a diagnosis, has been advised to undergo surgery, or has symptoms or examination results that require assessment by a pediatric cardiac surgeon. The main purpose of these consultations is to determine in a timely manner whether the child requires surgical treatment, further diagnostic evaluation, or ongoing medical follow-up. The program is not limited to Tashkent. AKFA MEDLINE specialists conduct free outreach consultations across different regions of Uzbekistan, helping make specialized medical care more accessible to families who may find it difficult to travel to the capital. During these visits, pediatric cardiac surgeons examine children and review their medical records and diagnostic results. When appropriate, patients may be referred for further evaluation and considered for free surgical treatment within the program. When necessary, the medical team can also travel to remote areas of the country.Under the “Sen Yashaysan” program, AKFA MEDLINE provides free surgical treatment for children under the age of 15 with congenital heart defects who meet the program’s medical and social eligibility criteria. Each case is reviewed individually. The decision regarding the need for surgery is made by specialists based on the child’s diagnosis, clinical condition, and examination results. The program covers more than the surgical procedure itself. The child’s inpatient stay, meals during hospitalization, and the opportunity for one parent to stay with the child in the hospital are also included in the program. This helps ensure that the child receives the necessary care while remaining supported by their family throughout the treatment period. For AKFA MEDLINE, “Sen Yashaysan” is more than a charitable initiative. It is a long-term program that brings together professional medical care, the expertise of pediatric cardiac surgeons, and support for families who need timely access to specialized treatment. To learn more about eligibility for the program, schedule a free consultation with a pediatric cardiac surgeon, or obtain information about the required documents and examinations, parents can contact the AKFA MEDLINE Call Center.Address: Farobiy 5A, Kichik Halqa Yuli, Almazar District, TashkentCall Center: +998 71 203-30-03 — available 24/7When contacting the Call Center, simply inform the specialist that your inquiry concerns the “Sen Yashaysan” program. The team will provide the necessary information and guide you through the next steps.“Sen Yashaysan” is an opportunity to provide timely care to a child, support their family, and give a young heart a new chance for a full and meaningful life.
