Today, September 11, a unique urological procedure using remote robotic-assisted surgery was successfully performed at AKFA Medline University Hospital.
Italian urologist and surgeon Alberto Breda, based in Padua, Italy, remotely controlled the robotic surgical system and performed the procedure on a patient located in Tashkent.
At AKFA Medline in Tashkent, Dilmurod Yunusov assisted the surgical team on site throughout the procedure.
The distance between Padua and Tashkent is approximately 4,820 km. Yet, modern technology makes it possible for leading specialists to participate in complex surgical procedures from thousands of kilometers away.
This milestone once again demonstrates the possibilities of modern medicine: patients do not always need to travel abroad to gain access to advanced surgical technologies and international expertise.
